WASHINGTON, D.C. -- U.S. Coast Guard Commandant Adm. Thad Allen applies for his Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) card. Though not required for U.S. Coast Guard personnel, Allen demonstrates how simple it is to apply for the credential. The deadline for port workers in Honolulu and American Samoa is Feb. 12, 2009. Card issuing personnel say the process is going very smoothly in Hawaii.
