The Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC) crew here was contacted Friday by the master of the motor vessel Hokuetsu Future and reported an injured 40-year-old male crewmember aboard the vessel. The injured man will be hoisted into an HH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter and transported to a medical facility for treatment.

Honolulu-based Coast Guard rescue crews responded Tuesday to another call for assistance. The crew of the motor vessel City notified the Coast Guard Tuesday concerning a 32-year-old male crewmember suffering from an unknown sickness. A Coast Guard rescue crew flew to the Midway Atoll Thursday to pick up the patient and returned to Oahu Friday; the City crewmember was then transferred to The Queen's Medical Center.

"No medevac (medical evacuation) is ever routine," said Petty Officer 1st Class Marty Parkins, a search and rescue controller at the JRCC. "We train every day and take great pride in being able to respond at a moments notice."
